Professional Bio
Priscilla Layne is Associate Professor of German and Adjunct Associate Professor of African and Afro-American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Priscilla completed her Ph.D at University of California, Berkeley. After receiving her B.A. at the University of Chicago, she spent two years in Berlin. One year as a Fulbright TA and the following year she conducted qualitative research with a grant from the Berlin Parliament. Priscilla was awarded tenure in 2018 and her book White Rebels in Black: German Appropriation of Black Popular Culture was published in that same year.
