German Embassy Teacher of Excellence: Receive Funding for the 2026 Conference!

The American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) is delighted to announce an update to the German Embassy Teacher of Excellence Award, sponsored by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany.

German teachers across the United States continue demonstrating exceptional dedication as ambassadors of the language, using innovative teaching and outreach to engage students and strengthen their programs.

To recognize this work, the German Embassy, in cooperation with AATG, annually honors three outstanding early-career educators with the German Embassy Teacher of Excellence Award, supporting their continued professional growth.

Starting in 2026, the award will fund three educators to attend the annual AATG Conference! Educators in the first half of their career who are making a meaningful impact at their institution or in their community are encouraged to apply. We welcome a diverse pool of applicants and especially encourage nominations of those who have not previously received this award.

Funding for 2026 Conference

Recipients will receive funding to attend the 2026 AATG Conference (July 11–14, 2026, in Boston, MA). The prize includes conference registration, a travel stipend, hotel accommodations, a daily per diem, and tickets to the AATG Gala and Welcome Luncheon at the conference.

Please note: This funding may not be combined with other AATG or German Government funding for the 2026 conference.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit an application by May 15, 2026 at 12:00pm EST. The application will ask candidates to provide contact information, upload a resume/CV, two letters of recommendation (submitted through an online form), and answers to three short essay questions.
