GETMAPP Resource Center
The GETMAPP Project was established in 2020 to help German educators during the transition to online learning. Though this page is no longer monitored or updated, we hope this will serve as a resource point for new German educators or those looking to refresh their classroom materials.
What is The GETMAPP Project?
Emergency-Online instruction highlighted the need across the country for quality educational materials. Sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of German in conjunction with Wunderbar Together, this project was a a collaborative initiative funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and implemented by the Goethe-Institut to create a different type of platform for German teaching materials.
A new way to view materials: Standards-based and accessible on almost any device. This project sought to combine teacher comments with high-quality digital materials. German teachers can collaborate, communicate, and share their digital materials here. Best of all, no downloading to clog up your email or phone.
Accessible:
Accessibility is one of the keys to education today. No matter what device you use, GETMAPP allows you to display, share, and link high-quality materials without downloading. Plus, it works with most file formats and on any device!
Up-to-date:
We should not reproduce out of date materials in digital form. GETMAPP sought to highlight up-to-date digital materials that portray contemporary life in the German-Speaking world. For face-to-face or online, teachers should have the best materials available.
Materials:
The corpus of the database is structured around levels. This means if you are teaching intermediate level high school students, you are looking for materials that are not just topical, but level and content-appropriate. GETMAPP also has topical collections and allows for AATG Groups to use the platform for distribution of their materials.
