Application Materials. To apply, students must complete the Online Application. Before beginning, they should prepare the following documents in the noted format, as they need to be uploaded in the third section of the application.

  • Letter to host family and question responses (pdf). To fill out the form, it must be downloaded and then opened with Adobe PDF Reader. Applicants should then type their responses, and save the document to be uploaded later.
  • Current transcript (pdf)
  • Letter of recommendation from the German teacher or school counselor (doc, docx, or pdf)
  • Any additional materials required by the local chapter

Selection. A local committee selects a nominee for each AATG Chapter. A national committee selects the final award recipients from these Chapter nominees. Applicants were notified by mid-April.
