Delta Phi Alpha to Join AATG in 2024

Institution News,

The AATG and Delta Phi Alpha, the national collegiate academic honor society, are excited to announce a merger starting in January 2024!

Delta Phi Alpha was founded in 1929 at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. After numerous discussions with the boards of directors of AATG and Delta Phi Alpha, as well as meetings with constituent chapters of Delta Phi Alpha, a vote was taken in October of 2023, resulting in a formal merger with AATG to occur in 2024.

“We are thrilled to continue the mission of Delta Phi Alpha at AATG.” said AATGExecutive Director Michael Shaughnessy. “AATG already operates three German Academic honor societies, so working with Delta Phi Alpha is a natural extension of both organizations’ missions. With our recent transformative donation pledge, this positions AATG to provide significant support to postsecondary programs in the coming decade. While many look only at the challenges in higher education, AATG is working to provide meaningful action on behalf of students and programs. We believe that access and support is the key to growth, and we are working to make this a reality.”

The AATG would like to formally thank the Delta Phi Alpha chapters, board of directors, and particularly Cathy Altmeyer, for their tireless dedication in supporting undergraduate and graduate German students. We are already working on finalizing logistics for 2024 and look forward to recognizing college-level programs in the future.
