Chapters on the environment and recycling have been in German textbooks for many years. The concept of Nachhaltigkeit (sustainability), however, is much broader and intersects with many parts of our daily lives, such as the food we buy and eat, the green spaces we enjoy in our cities, and the ways we heat our homes. This webinar introduces you to the 15 free learning modules of the Green German Project with ideas of how to use and adapt them in both lower- and upper-level German courses.
Beth Kautz works at the University of Minnesota, with a dual-appointment in the Department of German, Scandinavian and Dutch and the College of Liberal Arts Language Center. She is the Coordinator for 3rd semester German, where she has integrated online learning modules on sustainability-related topics, and oversees the development of hybrid language courses for the College of Liberal Arts. Her work has included German language instruction, curriculum development, teacher training, and support of technology-enhanced teaching and learning. She was Director of Language Instruction in German, Scandinavian and Dutch for six years, during the initiation of the Green German Project.
