COVID-19 Updates

The AATG Board of Directors and staff are carefully monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and its ever-changing impact on programs and services. Please note these updates:

Membership Renewal

You can renew your membership through our secure online portal. Please note that membership renewals sent via US Postal Service will be processed at a slower rate since we limit the number of staff members in the office. Any questions regarding membership can be directed to Marisa Rosario (Our new member services director!)

AATG Office
AATG office staff is working mostly remotely in compliance with the stay-at-home order issued by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. Staff can be reached during our regular weekday business hours 9:00 am to 5:00 pm via email or telephone 856-795-5553. The staff has recently been reduced in number and your patience in delayed communications as we adapt to a new work environment is appreciated. A staff email directory is here.

National German Exam for Level 1
The AATG Board of Directors made modifications to both the test administration period and test administration procedures. The exam administration period was extended to May 15. Guidelines on remote testing/testing at home are available here

Online Orders
Orders for all materials in our online store are being processed and shipped. A new online store will launch this fall that will improve speed, tracking, and make materials available to a wider audience. It will eventually be hosted at 

Free Webinars
AATG is hosting free webinars to support online German instruction. Recordings of the webinars are available on our website. Additionally we are providing members free access to our full library of on-demand webinars. You can browse the webinars in our online store. Make sure you are logged in and use the coupon code PDATHOME at check out to access the webinars for free. 

AATG Summer Study Program
The Summer Study Program for High School Students has been cancelledGiven the current situation in both the US and Germany where schools will remain closed for an extended period of time, and in consideration of everyone's health and safety, we know that this is the right decision. Students who applied for the program received a  full refund.

AATG/PAD Study Trip Award
The Federal Republic of Germany Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) and Pedagogical Exchange Service (Pädagogischer Austauschdiensthave cancelled the 2020 awards program. Medals and book prizes will not be sent to Chapter Testing Chairs this year.

AATG Summer Seminars
The Mit Deutsch in die Zukunft  seminar to held in Leipzig this summer has been cancelled. The Austrian seminar Einfach unvergesslich! Erinnerungsorte und kulturreflexives Lernen im DaF-Unterricht has been cancelled. The Internationaler Lehrerfortbildungskurs at Heidelberg University has been cancelled.

Chapter Events

Chapter officers and members know best their local situation and should make decisions regarding chapter events based on that knowledge. We want everyone to consider their own situation and know that teachers, students, and parents must make decisions regarding participation for themselves. The Board of Directors supports these decisions.
