COVID-19 Updates

The AATG Board of Directors and staff are carefully monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and its ever-changing impact on programs and services. Please note these updates:

AATG Office
AATG office staff is working remotely in compliance with the stay-at-home order issued by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.  Staff can be reached during our regular weekday business hours 9:00 am to 5:00 pm via email or telephone 856-795-5553. Your patience in delayed communications as we adapt to a new work environment is appreciated.

AATG Summer Study Program
The Summer Study Program for High School Students has been cancelledGiven the current situation in both the US and Germany where schools will remain closed for an extended period of time, and in consideration of everyone's health and safety, we know that this is the right decision. Students who have applied for the program will receive a  full refund by April 1.

AATG/PAD Study Trip Award
The Federal Republic of Germany Foreign Office ( Auswärtiges Amt) and Pedagogical Exchange Service (Pädagogischer Austauschdienst have cancelled the 2020 awards program. Medals and book prizes will be sent to Chapter Testing Chairs at a later date.

National German Exam for Level 1
Usernames and passwords were sent to teachers who have registered students for the exam. The AATG Board of Directors has made modifications to both the test administration period and test administration procedures. The exam administration period has been extended to May 15. Guidelines on remote testing/testing at home are available here

AATG Summer Seminars
The Mit Deutsch in die Zukunft  seminar to held in Leipzig this summer has been cancelled. A decision regarding the Austrian seminar  Einfach unvergesslich! Erinnerungsorte und kulturreflexives Lernen im DaF-Unterricht will be made by the Kulture und Sprache department at the Austrian Bundesministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft und Forschung in mid-April.

Chapter Events

Chapter officers and members know best their local situation and should make decisions regarding chapter events based on that knowledge. We want everyone to consider their own situation and know that teachers, students, and parents must make decisions regarding participation for themselves. The Board of Directors supports these decisions.
