AATG Summer Seminars

Mit Deutsch in die Zukunft
June 14–July 4, 2020 in Leipzig

This three-week seminar in Leipzig designed for undergraduate students (6+ semesters) and graduate students planning a career teaching German, and new teachers with 3 years experience or less includes:

  • Methodology Workshops
  • Workshop: Werbung für das Fach Deutsch
  • Roundtable discussion: Traumberuf Deutschlehrer/-in
  • Exploring Visual Literacy
  • Individualized language development
  • School Visits and Classroom Observations
  • Leipzig exploration und Themenrecherchen
  • Culture Program
The seminar will be conducted in German. This program is made available by the Transatlantik-Programm der Bundesrepublik Deutschland through funds of the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie. Program costs, materials, and accommodations including breakfast, as well as a small travel stipend are provided. Participation is limited to 20 AATG members. TO APPLY. Complete the application form, which will be available in January 2020. Upload your resume or curriculum vitae; a letter of application in German detailing your reasons for wanting to participate in the seminar, what you expect to gain, and how you plan to share your experiences with others; and a letter of support from a current professor, your department chair, or school administrator; the results of a recent OPI or the Language Proficiency Assessment Form. Pay the $50 application fee--you will be directed to the AATG Online Store when you submit the application. The deadline to apply will be announced in January 2020.
