Why did you first start learning German?
I wanted to learn another language, as I could already speak Spanish. I was greatly influenced by soccer and at the time (2002), Germany was playing very well.

What did you get out of your German studies?
So much. I put in a lot of effort to learn during class and reinforced it by practicing as much as possible outside the classroom.

What influence did German have on your career choices?
It had a major influence. I most definitely wanted to work in a German-speaking country and worked toward realizing that goal.

How do you use German today at home or in your work?
Yes, I use German at work to communicate with my colleagues. I live alone, so I don’t use it at home, but all my friends are German and I use it to communicate with them. I still attend German classes here in Berlin and it makes me truly happy to continue learning and to strive to improve.
