Privacy Policy

The American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) places a high priority on protecting the privacy of our members and website users. We recognize the importance of protecting the personal information collected from users in the operation of our services and taking reasonable steps to maintain the security, integrity and privacy of any information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. By using the AATG website, you consent to the practices described in this statement.

What Information is Collected
AATG does not collect any personal information about you unless you voluntarily provide it to us. We may use this information for specific, limited purposes. AATG members who register at and individuals that sign up to receive e-communications voluntarily provide us with contact information. If you are younger than 18 years of age, you must first seek the consent of your parent or guardian prior to submitting any personal information.

In some instances, when a purchase is initiated by a customer, credit card information is captured. This can include billing information. All electronic credit card information is encrypted prior to AATG receiving it. When members and customers choose to pay using their credit cards, AATG submits the information needed to obtain payment to the appropriate processing agent. AATG does not disclose credit card account information provided by its members and customers.

AATG does not collect personal information from users browsing its Web site. Only aggregate statistical metrics such as the number of hits per page and number of downloads, without identifying any user individually, are collected and used for internal and marketing purposes.

Cookies uses "cookie" messages to automatically help provide better services. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. You can reject cookies or cancel them by instructing your Web browser accordingly.

How Information May Be Used
AATG uses your personal information to provide you with personalized service; to send e-mail alerts to you; to answer your requests; to process your membership application; etc. You may choose to opt out at any time.

AATG shares personal information with trusted third parties who act as our agents to help us fulfill our services. These third parties constitute credit card processors and email providers for bulk mailings. Individuals who wish to opt-out may do so by following the instructions on the emails.

AATG occasionally makes its member mailing addresses available for one-time usage to companies offering products and services of interest to our members. Members may choose to opt out of these mailings by checking the appropriate box on the AATG membership application or renewal invoice, or by updating their profile on
