AATG’s session "Analyzing Cultural Memory in a Multilayered Language and Literature Curriculum" at the 2015 MLA Convention in Vancouver, British Columbia to be included in MLA president Margaret Ferguson’s presidential theme, “Negotiating Sites of Memory.”

The AATG sponsored session will explore how literacy-oriented language programs overcome the language-literature bifurcation by creating a spiraled undergraduate curriculum to ensure that students revisit topics in greater depth as they progress in language proficiency. The speakers will also address how, through theme- and genre-based tasks, students analyze how literature creates and transmits cultural memory and shapes recollections of the past at every proficiency level.

The panel is chaired by AATG Northeast Regional Representative, Gisela Hoecherl-Alden of Boston University. Featured speakers are Peter Höyng of Emory University, Timothy Bruce Malchow of Valparaiso University and Jennifer Redmann of Franklin and Marshall College. AATG invites you to attend this special session on Thursday, 8 January at 3:30 pm in the Vancouver Convention Center East 17.
