Scholarships for College and University members of the German Honorary - Delta Phi Alpha.  This round's deadline: March 15th.

Delta Phi Alpha offers two rounds of study abroad scholarships each year to
student members. The deadlines for application are November 15 and March 15.
The upcoming scholarship is for study abroad in a German speaking country in
the Fall / Winter.

if your campus has a chapter, visit

If your campus does not have a chapter, encourage your German program to
consider forming a chapter.

IGHS Scholarships for High School Students - 2017 

The Indiana German Heritage Society (IGHS) provides scholarships for Indiana high school students participating in an approved educational program in Germany or other German-speaking countries. Applications are accepted from students participating in programs such as Youth for Understanding (YFU), I.U. Honors Program, or the German American Partnership Program (GAPP).
Scholarship Levels
a)   $ 1,000 for a program lasting at least 6 weeks, i.e. I.U. Honors, YFU (up to two scholarships)

b)   $ 500  for a short-term program, i.e. GAPP program (up to four scholarships) 

Eligibility Criteria and Application Materials

Students must be participating in an official program.

Applicants must submit the following:
• Complete contact information (including address, phone number, and e-mail address)
• Program description (name, length, location, budget etc.)
• Statement of purpose (up to 2 pages)
• Biography (one page)
• High school transcript
• Letter of recommendation from German teacher Additional supporting documents, i.e. secondary support letter, are welcome and encouraged. Selection Criteria
• Overall academic preparation
• Seriousness of purpose
• Achievements in German courses
• Involvement in extracurricular activities, especially German Club
• Plans for continued language studies following the program (if applicable) Please note: Students must submit proof of acceptance into the Program before the award is distributed.


Sponsored students agree to make a presentation to
IGHS at a “Stammtisch”

or similar event in Indianapolis

or write an article for the IGHS Newsletter.
