Research Grant
Research grants are awarded primarily to highly qualified PhD candidates who are early in their academic/professional careers or to individuals wishing to earn a doctoral degree in Germany. Funding may also be granted to recent PhDs who would like to conduct research.

DAAD Grants for Graduate Students

Study Scholarship
Study Scholarships provide highly qualified individuals with an opportunity to do independent study in Germany or to complete a full Master's degree program at a German university.
Application deadlines: November 1 or 15

DAAD Grants for Undergraduates

Undergraduate Scholarships
Scholarships for 4 to 10 months of study, thesis research or an internship for students in any academic field.
Application deadline: January 31

Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies Grant Program

The Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies (“BIAAS”) seeks grant proposals for projects aimed at promoting an understanding of the historic relationship between the United States and Austria.

Grant proposals may include requests for funding for research and writing projects, for literature, poetry and music projects, for seminars, institutes, lectures, translations, for the production of films and television programs, and the like.

Grants will range from $5,000 to $25,000 unless a compelling case is made for larger grants.

Summer Grants from the Max Kade Center at Washington University in St. Louis in 2012

--Two DAAD Grants (Euro 2.500 each, which is about $3.500 depending on the exchange rate) for U.S. or Canadian professors of German (all levels) or dissertation candidates working in the field of contemporary German literature to do research in the Contemporary German Literature Collection at Washington University’s Olin Library.

Deutsch Sprachvergnügen: a new funding initiative

The German Embassy has recently announced a funding possibility for individual teachers for school-related projects that will be dedicated to supporting the study of German at the school level. AATG has been designated as one of the members of the "Netzwerk Sprachvergnügen" to receive your application. An Executive Council committee will review your proposal and, if approved, send it on to the Embassy for the next stage of review and approval. Deadline for submitting your application is August 17, 2011.

DAAD Short Research Visits Grants for Faculty to Germany

DAAD logoDAAD offers grants for one to three months in all academic disciplines to scholars at US and Canadian institutions of higher education to pursue research at universities, libraries, archives, institutes or laboratories in Germany.

Act now - deadline is October 15, 2012.

Leibniz-DAAD Fellowship

Launched in 2011 by the Leibniz Association (Wissenschaftsgemeinschaft Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), The "Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellowship" offers highly-qualified recent foreign postdocs the opportunity to conduct special research at institutes of the Leibniz Association in Germany.

Deadline: March 20, 2012
