National German Honor Society for High School Students of German
Delta Epsilon Phi (DEP) was founded at Coral Gables High School (FL) in 1968 by Käthe Wilson, a devoted AATG member, who until her death remained active and supportive of this rapidly expanding organization.
To establish your own Honor Society, the following criteria must be met:
- Only accredited public and private senior high schools are eligible to have chapters.
- Sponsors of chapters must be teachers of German and members of AATG.

Sponsors from accredited high schools shall apply to AATG for a Chapter Charter by submitting a request on official school stationery (there is no application form) and shall pay a one-time fee of $10 (check payable to AATG must accompany application).

or faxed to: 856-795-9398 - To be eligible, a student must have completed three semesters of German.
- The student must have attained an average of 3.6 in German and a 3.0 general average in these three semesters, on a 4.0 scale. Individual schools may set additional requirements.
- Membership certificates are $2.50 each for 8 1/2" x 11" format (blank), or $4.00 each for 8 1/2" x 11" format (printed). This fee is paid by each student only once. Check payable to AATG must accompany all orders.
Upon affiliation you receive a Kapitelurkunde, Chapter Handbook which contains the Constitution, suggested induction ceremony, chapter activities, and a list of available award items such as membership cards, diploma seals, pins, sew-on patches, graduation cap tassels and honor cords.
AATG will send each established chapter that has is still offering German a packet each fall. A chapter is considered inactive if no activity has been reported for the last three years. Reactivation costs $7.50 and can be done online. Chapter handbook and Kapitelurkunde are resent upon reactivation.
AATG requests the sponsor submit an annual report at the end of each academic year.
For students who have previously been members of Junior Delta Epsilon Phi, they need to be re-inducted in the senior high school honor society. However special notice could be made when introducing them at the ceremony or they may be recognized in the program booklet with special designation.
