Austrian Seminar: Literatur findet Stadt: Wien - Triest
Seminar zur Landeskunde sowie Methodik/Didaktik des Unterrichts von Deutsch als Fremdsprache
June 19-30, 2010, Vienna and Trieste
Entdecken Sie zwei Städte, die nicht so fern voneinander sind, wie es die Landkarte vermuten ließe. Wien, Metropole und Bundeshauptstadt Österreichs, ist Ausgangspunkt und zentrales Forschungsfeld des Seminars, von dem aus ein vergleichender Blick über die Grenze nach Triest (Italien) führt, in eine Hafenstadt, deren Geschichte und Entwicklung mehr als 500 Jahre eng mit der Österreichs verknüpft war. Das Seminar gewährt Einblicke in die gemeinsame und trennende Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft zweier in sich kontrastreicher und vielfältiger Lebensräume. Inhalte: Alltagslandeskunde; Geschichte und Gegenwart: Gesellschaft, Politik, Wirtschaft; Literatur und Kunst; Musik; Sprachliche und kulturelle Vielfalt leben; Wasser – süß oder salzig; Zukunftsvisionen.
The seminar will begin and end in Vienna, with several days in Trieste. Maximum of 10 participants.
Program costs, room and board, materials and a cultural program are included in the special seminar cost of €984 for AATG members, a substantial reduction from the normal cost of €1230, thanks to support from the Austrian Bundesministerium für Unterricht, Kunst und Kultur. An additional generous subsidy from the Austrian Bundesministerium für europäische und internationale Angelegenheiten will be divided equally among AATG participants, further reducing the cost. The amount of the subsidy (a minimum of €300) will be determined by the number of participants, and will be subtracted from the final invoice for the seminar.

Application deadline: March 14, 2010. All participants must be AATG members; participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the seminar site. A non-refundable administrative fee of $50 must be submitted with the application.
