AATG is excited to announce a new NextGen Leaders Program. The NextGen Leaders Program is building a cadre of K-16 colleagues to serve as future leaders of the German teaching profession. German programs in the US have made great progress through the leadership of previous generations and it’s time to prepare leaders for the German teaching profession of tomorrow. Early identification and training of young professionals for leadership in advocacy for German at local, regional and national levels is key to successful German programs.
The target audience for this project are colleagues with demonstrated interest in getting more involved professionally and who have a strong potential for leadership. The NextGen up-and-coming leaders will participate in a weekend seminar December 4-6, 2015 at the AATG office in Cherry Hill, NJ. Travel and accommodations will be covered through a generous Netzwerk Deutsch grant funded by the German Embassy.
The Next Gen Leaders program will help participants—
- Gain critical leadership skills
- Enhance goal setting, decision making, and conflict resolution skills
- Network within the field of German and foreign languages
- Develop strategies for advocating for German
- Identify special opportunities for German teachers
After the training session, participants will share their leadership skills with colleagues in their regions and take on leadership roles in their schools, AATG chapters, and on the state, regional, and national level.
The application deadline has passed.
