Ad Mundum and The Simon Scholarship (General scholarships for study abroad that can be applied to Germany/Austria or Berlin trips) 

The Gillman Scholarship- specific to only students that apply to the criteria: The Gilman Scholarship Program is open to U.S. citizen undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide.

  • DAAD Scholarships - Funds various programs for study in Germany, ranging from three weeks of intensive language study to a year of post-baccalaureate research. Some awards will support Germans internships as well.  Due January 31 

  • Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange - The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) is a fellowship funded by the German Bundestag and U.S. Congress, that annually provides 75 American and 75 German Young Professionals the opportunity to spend one year in each others' countries, studying, interning, and living with hosts on a cultural immersion program.  The program is open to candidates in all career fields who are interested in a year of cultural exchange 

  • Delta Phi Alpha Scholarship Awards - The National Honor Society for German awards scholarships to undergraduate student members wishing to further their German studies. 

  • American Austrian Foundation - Offers numerous awards to support exchanges to Austria in the fields of medicine, science, communications and the arts. 

  • EMGIP Fellowship (German Parliament Internship - Fellowship program that provides U.S. and Canadian students with internships at a German state parliament (Landtag).

 The first is mostly just German language, the second is whatever courses you want to take, and the third is about organ music.

• As a high school student, you can and should apply for a Foreign Languages and Literatures Scholarship by January of your senior year ($1,000, renewable each year for a total of $4,000), and also The Professor Carol Petersen Scholarship is awarded every year to an incoming student majoring in French or German ($1,000, freshman year only). Students are nominated for these scholarships. Current Valpo students can win the Henry and June Giebel Study Abroad Scholarship. German exchange students are eligible to become a Joseph Eberle Exchange Student.

You can take a full year of actual classes through a German study abroad program, which means you could work on 2 majors at the same time overseas. It's also worth noting that all the professors have PhD's.
