Dear AATG colleagues,

There has been some concern that given the recent storm and rain damage in Columbia as to whether we would be able to meet this coming Saturday. We will indeed be holding our German Summit on the USC – Columbia campus from 10:00-12:30 AM. We will meet in the Welsh Humanities Classroom Building Room 202. You should be able to find parking in the Gambrell Hall parking lot. It is accessible from Greene St as you come from Pickens St. The classroom building is a 1 minute walk from the Gambrell parking lot. There is also parking in the Pendleton garage.

We will have flyers on the classroom building directing you to our main meeting room.

The conference activities will unfold as follows:

We will begin with a brief introduction and welcome and then jump into some language/culture activities until 11:00AM.

At 11:00 we will have a brief presentation on our college German programs and a short talk from the German-American Chamber of Commerce.

By 11:30 we will have a panel discussion with current and former students of German who will talk about how the continued study of German has influenced their education and career opportunities.

Please come on time.

The summit will conclude at 12:30 after which we will go have lunch. Lunch is the only cost to the students so we hope that some of the high school students will stay to continue speaking with our students and alums. We hope they will get useful information and contacts. During lunch we will have an AATG meeting over lunch to discuss where we are as a state and also to hear some proposals for the spring 2016 conference at the College of Charleston.

Viele Gruesse,

Lee
