She has coordinated a GAPP program with a Munich school since 1987. Kathy has served on the Kinder Lernen Deutsch, nominating, and endowment committees and was co-chairperson for the program committee in 2006.

Mohamed Esa is professor of German at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. He has conducted many seminars and workshops in the USA, Canada, Germany and Sweden. His areas of expertise are the effective use of music, fairy tales, proverbs and figures of speech as well as technology in German instruction. He has received numerous awards including McDaniel College Teacher of the Year, the Bundesverdienstkreuz, and the AATG Outstanding Educator Award.

Keith Cothrun was named Executive Director of AATG effective January 2012. Prior to coming to AATG, Keith worked at the College Board's Advanced Placement Program where he served as director of World Languages and Cultures with responsibilities for AP German Language and Culture, as well as Chinese, Japanese, and Italian Language and Culture. More importantly, Keith taught for 24 years building a thriving high school German program and GAPP Exchange in New Mexico.

Karin Baumgartner is the section head for German at the University of Utah, where she has taught since 2006 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2009. From 1999 to 2006, she taught in a small student-centered German program at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. Teaching at a variety of institutions (private, public, undergraduate, graduate) has given her a broad perspective for the needs of German programs at every level.

Gisela Hoecherl-Alden currently works as Assistant Dean and Director of Language Instruction for all Language Departments at Boston University, where she also teaches German language and literature. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin and has taught German at public and private universities in Alaska, Pennsylvania and Maine. She strives to integrate internships and study abroad with on-campus curricula, has received several awards for teaching and service, and regularly conducts K-16 faculty development workshops.

Astrid Klocke is associate professor of Humanities and Coordinator of Cinema Studies at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. She co-authored (with Waltraud Maierhofer) Deutsche Literatur im Kontext 1750-2000, a textbook for introductory literature classes taught in German, and given multiple conference presentations and workshops on the task-based teaching of literature and film. She has taught in the German programs at Indiana University, the Middlebury German School, and UCLA.

Volker Langeheine taught at Millard North High School in Omaha, Nebraska since 2002. Born and raised in Germany, he holds degrees in German Linguistics, History and Pedagogy from Technische Universität Braunschweig and taught high school and university students overseas and in the US. At Millard, he taught all levels of German including AP and IB German classes, organized study tours for students to Germany and created many fully funded opportunities for students to work and learn abroad through the Congress-Bundestag partnership program and others.

Jim Sheppard teaches German at Screven County High School in Sylvania, GA. He has participated in statewide curriculum and certification projects, and was a contributor to the National Standards for German. He has been named STAR teacher and honored by his school and district as Teacher of the Year. The Georgia AATG chapter has twice named him German Teacher of the Year.
