Call for Papers: Neues Curriculum (NC)
NC is a new electronic, peer reviewed journal for best practices in higher education German studies. It facilitates a dialogue about innovative projects, highlights successful programs, and describes other 'best practices' in German cultural, historical, linguistic, and literary studies.

NC is published in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Goethe Institut, the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) and the German Studies Association (GSA).

From the Editors:

Our intention is to publish articles that effectively describe successful and dynamic examples of German programs. Perhaps your program has implemented changes in the curriculum, adopted methodologies across the board, or has adopted strategies that have resulted in a positive change for German Studies at your institution. We are seeking your experiences and perspectives through concrete examples of the changes or methods you have used and the results of these policies. We are looking for well written articles that provide an example for others to follow. Regardless of your program size, your curricular focus, or your position as a faculty member, your 'best practices' can be useful to others.

The first issue will address the topic of Articulation between colleges/universities and high schools.

Possible articles include:

  • Transitioning to college level instruction
  • Successful Placement procedures
  • Recruitment and retention
  • The role of AP exams
  • Joint high school-university level programming
  • German Day and beyond
  • High School skills and knowledge in a university world

Subsequent issues will address the following topics: Assessment, Advocacy, Professional Language programs (Business, Engineering), Study Abroad, Young Faculty Mentoring, Financing, and Interdisciplinary Studies.
