On October 10-11, 2008, the "Developing and Assessing Intercultural Competence" conference will take place in Tucson, AZ. This is a Professional Development event for K-16 educators in Foreign Language, Social Studies and Humanities-related fields. Renowned experts in Intercultural Competence and Communication from across the U.S. will give presentations; attendees will begin to collaboratively create concrete illustrations to use in their classes. The FL workshop on the second day of the conference is facilitated by a German instructor. Scholarships that cover registration and lodging costs are available (application deadline: September 5th, 2008).
The conference is cosponsored by the University of Arizona's Center for Educational Resources in Culture, Language and Literacy (CERCLL), Center for Latin American Studies, and Center for Middle Eastern Studies.
