The AP Program strives to have a diverse Reading population, including Readers from a variety of post-secondary and secondary institutions and a balanced geographical, ethnic, and gender representation. As AP exam volume increases, we are always in need of qualified new Readers who gather in early June at sites around the country to score AP Exams. We encourage you to consider applying, and to invite your colleagues in your department, school, or professional associations to apply to become AP Readers, keeping in mind that other AP subjects are also often in need of Readers. AP Readers tell us that participating in this amazingly efficient national assessment exercise has been extremely useful in developing effective strategies for their own teaching, testing, and assessment activities, and that the professional interactions and personal friendships cultured at the Reading are among the most vivid and strong relationships in their lives. The application process involves submitting an online Reader application as well as a copy of the applicant's curriculum vitae and syllabus. For further information and the application, please refer to the following Web page:http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/readers Applications for the Reading are accepted on a continual basis; we encourage you to submit an application as soon as possible to ensure consideration for the initial appointments to the 2008 Reading, which will be determined in late 2007. The College Board provides an honorarium of $1,450 for this service and covers all travel expenses, lodging, and meals. For further information please contact the AP Program Reader Services at apreader@ets.org. We look forward to seeing you in June 2008. |
