Leaving a Legacy to AATG

Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way:
Please Remember AATG in your Will!

The American Association of Teachers of German, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, gratefully accepts gifts made by bequest from its members and friends. It is a simple way to articulate your wishes toward your family, friends, and your favorite not-for-profit organization(s). A bequest is a provision of any size that anyone can make. You may honor someone's service to the Association (named gift) or memorialize a family member or colleague.

Any gifts to AATG are used to carry out the many services and programs of the Association and may be restricted or unrestricted. Unrestricted support is more flexible and therefore more helpful. Your bequest may also be restricted for a stated purpose, e.g., for the AATG Student Scholarship Endowment, the newly established Friends of AATG Endowment or an AATG program of special interest to you.

You should consult with your attorney about the inclusion of a provision to support the AATG. Please note that your bequest may be for a stated percent of your estate, a fixed dollar amount, or the residue.

An example of simple bequest language is:

“I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to the American Association Teachers of German, a nonprofit corporation organized and operating under the laws of the State of New Jersey, the sum of $____ (or ___percent of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate), to be used for general purpose of the Association (or for a particular program or Endowment of your choosing).”

We would appreciate knowing that you have made a provision for AATG in your will. You'll be recognized appropriately in future issues of the Association's publications. You may, of course, choose to remain anonymous.
