Prof Development Consultants Info & Forms
The AATG is pleased to post this current directory for the Professional Development project, generously supported by funds from the Federal Republic of Germany. We are indeed fortunate to have access to many experts in their fields at such reasonable cost. Do take advantage of this listing for its potential impact on your chapter members. Please note: Any presentations supported by this program must take place by December 31, 2008.

As you are aware, professional faculty development is appropriate for all those who teach German no matter what their level. Such efforts are more important than ever before given the rapid changes in our student population, the importance of technology, the advent of foreign language standards K-16, professional standards, and the development of assessment strategies. Please note that this funding supports only professional development.

Special emphasis this year is on technology and on the integration of the student standards into all presentations no matter the topic or content. We have added a question on the evaluation form which reflects this standards focus.

We strongly suggest that the chapter planning/steering committee plan a series of "linked" workshops over a period of time where participants can return and share their experiences using the strategies and information gleaned in the previous session(s). Educators learn not only from "outside" experts but also from each other through research and reflection.

Procedures

AATG will pay the consultant an honorarium of $150 and up to $300 in travel expenses. If the travel expenses are higher, chapters are expected to use their own resources to support the program. If this is not possible, chapter officers must contact the AATG National Office in writing in advance of the final commitment to discuss a possible exception to this limit.

We are providing topics and short descriptions of the presentations, along with contact information for consultants. Chapter program planners should contact the consultant directly to determine availability, topic, date, time, language and level of presentation, transportation, lodging, etc. As soon after the presentation as possible, chapter organizers must send an evaluation of the event to AATG (click here for evaluation form). The consultant sends the reimbursement form (click here for reimbursement form in PDF form) and request for an honorarium to the AATG, which reimburses the consultant directly. These must be received at AATG by December 31, 2008.
