Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program

CDS International invites applications for the Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program. The goal of the Robert Bosch Foundation is the advancement of American-German/European relations, with special emphasis on the dynamic, contextual changes within the European Union. This nine-month work/study fellowship program will enable exceptional young American professionals to acquire an executive level understanding of the political, economic, and cultural environment of Germany and the European Union, and thereby augment their professional competence and expertise.

The program consists of three seminars focused on contemporary German and European issues and two work phases. From September 2009 through May 2010, the fellows will complete two internships-the first in federal or regional government institutions, and the second with private industry and mass media. Visits to Poland and the Czech Republic will be made to explore Germany's relationship to both countries and supplement the internships. Fellows will present their research at the seminars and the agenda will be determined in conjunction with them. The seminars are with top-level elected officials, as well as leading representatives from industry and academia in Berlin, Munich, Strasbourg and Brussels. The program begins in September 2008 and will last nine months, though it may be shortened or extended by as much as three months contingent upon the individual fellows' goals as set forth in the application.

The deadline is October 15, 2008. Applicants should be U.S. citizens between the ages of 23-34 and hold a graduate degree and/or two years of professional experience in one of the following fields: Business Administration, Economics, Journalism/Mass Communication, Law, Political Science, or Public Affairs/Public Policy. Candidates without a graduate degree are nevertheless encouraged to apply, provided they possess extensive professional experience in one of these fields. Selection will be made on a competitive basis. Interviews will be conducted in December for candidates selected by a joint German-American Committee.

The grant includes all program-related travel costs between the U.S. and Germany, a monthly stipend, health, accident, and liability insurance and additional funding for families.
